"Amor Gitano" is a latin pop song written by American R&B singer Beyoncé along with Jaime Flores and Reyli Barba as the theme song for the telenovela Zorro: La Espada y la Rosa in 2007. Knowles produced the song with Rudy Pérez and performed it with Latin pop singer Alejandro Fernández. "Amor Gitano" was written and performed in Spanish, and recorded in January of 2007. According to the label's translation, Fernández sings, "I'm your gypsy, your pilgrim. I'm your thief, I'm going to love you even if they tear my heart out".[1]
Release and chart success
"Amor Gitano" was the first release from Fernández's twelfth studio album Viento a Favor (2007) and the second release from the deluxe edition of Beyoncé's second studio album B'Day (2007). It was mainly sold in markets with a strong Latin demographic. In Spain, the song was certified 8× platinum (160,000 copies) for downloads and 15× platinum (300,000 copies) for ringtone sales. "Amor Gitano" has spent thirteen weeks on top of the Spanish singles chart. It is Beyoncé's second number-one hit on the Spanish Download Chart (the first was "Beautiful Liar") as well as her first Spanish-language number-one hit.
