Patrik Eriksson is a Swedish filmmaker whose life was turned upside down when his girlfriend broke off their relationship. Eriksson fell into a deep depression, and when he began looking for a new love, he found himself searching for a partner on the internet, using on-line dating services and chatting with fellow singles through e-mail, instant messaging and text messages. Eriksson decided to record his failing relationship and search for a new companion in a manner that befit the modern world of dating in cyberspace, and his documentary En enastaende studie i mansklig fornedring (aka An Extraordinary Study In Human Degradation) was shot using the video camera in his cellular phone, allowing the primitive visual quality to mirror the distance between himself and his dates. An Extraordinary Study In Human Degradation was an official selection at the 2008 Gothenburg Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi
