Plot

Filmmaker Annie Goldson draws inspiration from author Owen Scott's book Deep Beyond the Reef for this documentary about the tragic hate crime that sent reverberations echoing through four generations of a while Fijian family. The Scotts were a prominent family living he life of luxury in Fiji, an island paradise punctuated by breathtaking homes, perfectly manicured gardens, and lavish private clubs. But political unrest was growing, and the serenity of this Shangri-la was about to be disrupted by a violent series of military coups. When John Scott and his lover Greg Scrivener were brutally murdered - the victims of a sickening hate crime - the Scotts were absolutely devastated. In this film, author Owen Scott and director Annie Goldson travel back to Fiji in order to uncover the truth about that reprehensible crime, in the process unearthing a family mystery that began to unfold as colonial rule dissipated and the Fijians began their struggle for independence. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
