An mein Volk
An mein Volk, proclamation signed on 17 March 1813 at Breslau by Friedrich Wilhelm III of Prussia, summoning the Prussian people to war against the French. It marks the beginning of the War of Liberation (see Napoleonic Wars). The text was drafted by Theodor von Hippel, a civil servant who was a nephew of the poet and novelist Theodor Gottlieb von Hippel.
