The Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC) is a proposed transportation hub in the city of Anaheim, California. The project would be built on land owned by the City of Anaheim and the Orange County Transportation Authority and would serve to connect Orange County's bus network, the Southern California Metrolink rail system, and the planned California High-Speed Rail line in the city's Platinum Triangle.[1]

All environmental reviews for this project have been completed and the project is currently in the Design Development phase. Design Development will be completed in May 2012 and the project will be bid shortly thereafter. Construction is expected to begin in fall 2012. [2]

The station is scheduled to be operational by the year 2014.[2]

Introduction

"A world-class, development opportunity is emerging in Southern California. The Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC) will combine a transportation gateway and mixed-use activity center on a 16-acre site owned by the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) and the City of Anaheim." [2]

Regional connectivity and beyond

"ARTIC will serve as a hub for Orange County and the region, a landmark where freeways, major arterials, bus routes and Orange County’s backbone rail transit system converge. The network of transit choices will continue to grow in the coming years as the number of Metrolink and Amtrak trains serving Anaheim and local and express bus routes increase. ARTIC will accommodate these services as well as plans for future Anaheim Rapid Connection (ARC) and high speed trains."[citation needed]
