Anahid

The only important goddess of Zoroastrianism (see Zoroastrian entries), Ardva Sura Anahita (“The High, Powerful, and Immaculate One”) is depicted as a beautiful young woman with full breasts. She is dressed in elaborate clothing, complete with jewels and a halo-crown of starry light. Anahita began as a goddess of the primal waters. As such she is associated with all bodily secretions as well as bodies of water. Later she teaches Zarathustra (see Zoroaster) how to perform sacrifices and fight for justice among humans. Anahita aids Ahura Mazda in his work as Creator.
