anamorphic lens systems

Top

An anamorphic image is an image that has been distorted by a geometric transformation. In photography it is usually one that has been squeezed horizontally so that a panoramic field of view can fit into a 35 mm cine format, and can be expanded optically to reconstitute a normal image for widescreen presentation. The images are rectified by projecting them through a similar optical system in reverse. Anamorphic lens attachments such as the Isco Widerama can be used for both cine and still photography.
