Anarchy Reigns (マックス アナーキー Makkusu Anākī?, lit. "Max Anarchy") is an upcoming online beat 'em up game currently in development by Platinum Games set in the post-apocalyptic future.

It is their fifth game published by Sega and is being produced by Atsushi Inaba and directed by Masaki Yamanaka.[2] It will be released for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in July 2012 in Japan. The North American and European release date was changed to "To Be Determined" by Sega on May 25th, 2012.

Gameplay

The game is described by its developers as an 'online action combat' game, in which players control one of various types of fighters as they use extravagant moves to defeat their opponents. There will be a variety of multiplayer modes including Tag Team, Battle Royale, Death Match, Survive Mode and more.

Plot

Characters

The following characters have been announced so far.

Jack Cayman
The hero of Platinum Games' first title, MadWorld, who wields Gator Tooth, a retractable double chainsaw inside his mechanical arm. Voiced by Steven Blum who reprised his role from Jack's first game.
Leonhardt "Leo" Victorion
A protagonist whose name is similar in MadWorld, he uses charged Positron Blades. His fighting style looks to be very influenced by muay thai, due to his elbows and knees based attacks. [3]
Sasha Ivanoff
An spy lady whose weapons are Snow Spikes, which can be used to freeze opponents and combine into a powerful ice blade. Voiced by Rose McGowan.[4]
Zero
A cybernetic ninja who cuts through enemies with his twin katanas, Onimaru and Juzumaru.[5]
Big Bull
Previously seen in MadWorld, a cybrid (cyborg, a mech with a human brain) with a large bull-like body who smashes opponents with his Jet Hammer.[6]
Blacker Baron
The final boss in MadWorld, "a cocksure brawler at heart, who delivers his lines with a swagger with combat via the Super Sexy Fists of Fire."[7] Voiced by Arif S. Kinchen[8].
Mathilda
The Black Baron's assistant in MadWorld, who uses an Iron Maiden, a spiked barbarian's club with purple energy.[9]
Nikolai Dmitri Bulygin
An intellectual that uses a series of Tesla coils, called Tesla Blitz, to grant himself electrical powers.[10]
Durga
An anthromorphic cyborg who uses a big cat-like style of martial arts, and the Revolver Cannon which is inside his robotic leg.[11]
Garuda
A transforming jetplane mecha that has flight capabilities, spinning attacks, with its Tornado Drill weapons to skewer enemies.[12]
Edgar Oinkie
A fat and heavy brawler who uses his fists and a mutagen he calls "The Juice", which temporarily changes him into a reptilian beast, to deliver powerful blows in the blink of an eye.[13]
Bayonetta
The titular witch from Bayonetta has been confirmed as a playable character.[14]
RinRin
Leader of the Crimson Dragons and the boss in MadWorld who uses two fiery bladed fans, Yanlong.
FeiRin
RinRin's sister who uses an ice bladed trident, Zilong.
AiRin
RinRin's other sister who uses a lightning nunchucks, Huanglong.
Douglas Williamsburg
The man who uses twin weapons Romeo and Julio.
Maximillian Caxton
An evil-looking man armed with Positron Blades and Tesla Blitz.
