Part of the excellent historical series created by the Films for the Humanities and Sciences, Ancient Civilizations: The Celts documents the rise to power of Celtic warrior societies. Because their mastery of iron working was developed some 3,000 years ago, the Celts were quickly able to dominate Europe. This video features two Celt tribes, the Hallstatt and the La Tene Celts. Scholars dissect what is myth from what is legend regarding the history of these ancient tribes. Historians discuss important parts of Celtic culture such as the roles played by druids, the bards, and the Celt seers. Also explored are the techniques of battle unique to the Celts.
