Ancient Tribes: The Janissararies
Plot
In ancient times, the utilization of slaves was commonplace in some cultures. Ancient Tribes: The Janissararies depicts the Janissaries, who originated in the Balkans, and came under the domain of the Turkish people. Formerly Christians, they became Muslims, and were trained as elite warriors with an unquestioning faith in their leaders. Their victories included decisive wins at Nicopolis and Constantinople. This series of programs offers re-enactments of key battles and other events in the histories of the tribes discussed. Narration is provided by Colgate Salisbury. ~ Alice Day, RoviCast
