A shopping center tenant that occupies less space and is of lesser importance in generating shopping center traffic than an anchor tenant. Typically pays higher rental rates relative to anchor tenants.


Example: The tailor shop, hairstylist, and pet store are ancillary tenants in a neighborhood shopping center; the supermarket is the anchor tenant.
