André Gardes
André Gardes was an unemployed French nuclear scientist who tried to take over the island of Sark with a semi-automatic weapon in 1991. At the time the Seigneur of the island was John Michael Beaumont.
The night Gardes arrived he started putting up signs declaring his intention to take over the island the following day at noon. The following day the voluntary constable arrested Gardes as he was sitting on a bench changing the magazine, waiting for noon to arrive.[1]
