Andrew Laszlo A.S.C. (Hungarian: László András; born January 12, 1926 in Pápa, Hungary) is a Hungarian-American[1] cinematographer. He received Emmy nominations for The Man Without a Country in 1973 and Shōgun in 1980.[2]

Life

Andrew Laszlo was born as "László András" in 1926 in in Pápa, Hungary.[3] He started his career as an apprentice at the Motion Picture Studios of Budapest he moved to the United States in 1947.[1]

He learned photography in Hungary, but the motion picture industry was down in Budapest after World War II, so he decided to go to America to start a new career.[1] In 1950 he was drafted for the Korean War in New York[1], he became an expert while in Army service.[1] By the mid-1950s he was shooting TV films back in New York.[1]
