Personal life
The fourth of five children to parents Barry and Janja O'Keefe, O'Keefe was born and grew up in the Sydney suburb of Mosman. He attended St Ignatius' College, Riverview and was a member of the winning NSW team at the National Schools Debating Championships in 1989. He studied at the University of Sydney and Merrylands TAFE, where he was heavily interested in Theatresports and faculty revues throughout his undergraduate years, but did not participate. He is married with two boys, Barney and Rory.
In the media
In November 2008 O'Keefe was filmed drunk in Chapel Street in Prahran, a Melbourne suburb. He is seen lying and kneeling on the ground while a man helps him to his feet and eventually asks what appears to be a random man for a shoulder to cry on.[2]
In The Sunday Telegraph on the day after news of the video was leaked, letters to the editor were printed in which some members of the public told the media to back off and that O'Keefe was only human.[3]
