Procop, Andrew (c.1380-1434), also known as Prokop the Bald or Procopius the Great, Bohemian warrior priest and military leader of the Hussites, a heretical religious movement from 1424. Pope Martin V declared a general crusade against Hussites in 1419 and there followed a bitter series of wars in which the Taborite Hussites proved remarkably successful under the leadership of Zizka (see Hussite wars). Their military achievements continued under Procop. He repulsed a whole series of German invasions between 1426-31 and also led repeated expeditions into Hungary and Germany. Procop was killed at the battle of Lipany, after which an accommodation was reached with the pope.
