Biography

A member of the Royal Hawaiian Steel Guitar Hall Of Fame And Museum, Andy Iona was one of Hawaii's most influential musicians. In addition to hundreds of singles recorded with his band, Andy Iona And His Islanders, Iona recorded with the Sol Hoopii Trio and, on March 24, 1937, with Louis Armstrong. Later in 1937, Iona performed several shows with Cliff "Ukelele Ike" Edwards. Iona appeared in Songs Of The Island, a pre-World War Two film starring Betty Grable. ~ Craig Harris, Rovi
