Andy Knowles (born Andrew John Knowles, 30 June 1981, in Bolton, Greater Manchester, England) is an artist and drummer.
Knowles started his drumming career with Skuta, and then in 2003 formed the cult group I Love Lucy out of the Glaswegian Art rock scene. Touring as drum tech with Glaswegian band Franz Ferdinand, Knowles met Matthew and Eleanor Friedberger of the New York band The Fiery Furnaces and was invited to join the group. After extensive touring and recording drums on the album Bitter Tea, Knowles left the band and has since rejoined Franz Ferdinand as a live drummer/keyboard player. He has also played drums for the beatboxer Killa Kela. Knowles is currently not playing with Franz Ferdinand at present, thus working on other projects in the meantime.
Andrew Knowles is a graduate of the Glasgow School of Art and continues to work extensively with David Shrigley. He also played a minor role in the film Morvern Callar in 2002 and recently performed in live shows with The Cribs as a keyboardist.
Andy is now playing drums for Johnny Marr's band The Healers. He and Nick McCarthy from the band Franz Ferdinand work as a music production team called The Nice Nice Boys.
