Biography

Actress Aneta Corseaut made her feature film debut appearing opposite young Steve McQueen and an oozy pile of goo in The Blob (1958). She subsequently played occasional leads and supporting roles in feature films and television. Fans of the nostalgic sitcom The Andy Griffith Show will recognize her as school teacher Helen Crump, longtime girlfriend of Mayberry sheriff Andy Taylor (Griffith). Other television roles include that of Nurse Bradley on House Calls during the late '70s and early '80s. Aneta Louise Corsaut (November 3, 1933 – November 6, 1995) was an American actress. She is best known for playing Helen Crump on The Andy Griffith Show (1960 – 1968).

Corsaut and Steve McQueen both made their film debuts in the independent cult horror film, The Blob (1958).

Corsaut had a supporting role as Head Nurse Bradley in the 1980s sitcom House Calls, as Pete Malloy's girlfriend in Adam-12 and also appeared in several episodes of Matlock with star Andy Griffith. In addition, Corsaut played the role of nurse Jesse Brewer on the long-running ABC soap opera General Hospital when long time portrayer Emily McLaughlin was too ill to work. She also appeared in the March 10, 1963 "The Way of Aaron" episode of Bonanza.

Corsaut was the daughter of Jesse Harrison Corsaut and Opal J. (née Swarens) Corsaut. She died on November 6, 1995 from cancer, three days after her 62nd birthday. Her remains are buried in Valhalla Memorial Park Cemetery.

Corsaut was born the same day as actor Ken Berry who was also a cast member on The Andy Griffith Show and later its spin-off Mayberry, R.F.D..
