Angamaly-West is a diocese of the Oriental Orthodox Church in India. The present Diocean head is Bishop Yuhanon Mar Policarpus, who took charge in February 2009. IOC church which formed in 1912 from the Syrian Orthodox church flourished in a great way during 1970's. It has established many dioceses in and around India and abroad. Ankamally west diocese is having only a few church with very less faithful. The biggest church is Kunnakkurudy St. George Cathedral. Church authorities are trying their level best to extend its influence by filing a number of cases against its mother church, the Syrian Orthodox church (Jacobites).
