Method of diagnostic imaging that shows the flow of blood through the heart and great vessels. It is used to evaluate patients for surgery on the cardiovascular system. A contrast medium is introduced through a catheter into a heart chamber. A series of X-ray images shows where the flow narrows, signaling blockage of a blood vessel by atherosclerosis.
