Anglian Bus was set up as a family business in 1986, from a base in Loddon, Norfolk. The company moved to Beccles Business Park, and has constructed a purpose built garage on 5 acres (20,000 m2) of freehold land, where both operation and administration matters are carried out. A full Department of Transport MOT test lane is incorporated within the premises.
There is a second base at New Rackheath, near Norwich.
Company policy dictates that all Anglian Bus' new vehicles are low-floor and wheelchair accessible.[2]
The company operates a number of services, both standard routes and more limited services. Both urban and rural areas are served, many of the company's routes running into the city of Norwich, and serving Norwich bus station.

Anglian Bus runs a modern fleet of varying types. Many of the fleet have been bought new and many have been built by Optare. The company has a large fleet of Optare Solos, and in July 2008 two Optare Versa entered service.[3] Optare Tempos are also operated[4] and the company also took one of the last constructed examples of the Optare Spectra - this is now operating in Auckland, New Zealand.[5] In March 2008, it was one of the first operators to put into service Euro-4 double-deck Scania OmniCitys. Other vehicle types include single-deck Scania OmniCitys and Mercedes-Benz Vario/Plaxton Beaver 2.[6]
In December 2008 Anglian Bus launched AnglianScreen, an innovative information and advertising platform using media screens installed in its vehicles. Containing a 50/50 split between information and advertising. The system provides passengers with route updates and local news, whilst providing an advertising base and revenue.
