Poker Guide:

Angling

Refers to a type of play where a player will act out of turn with the intent of influencing the actions of ones opponents so that they may bet or fold differently than they would have had they not known what the angler was going to do.

SoundPoker Says: For Example: The angler could signal a bet out of turn, making the players before them decide not to bet or perhaps to even fold. However, when the round of betting reaches them they have either won the hand because the other players have folded or they may announce that they would rather not bet after all.

This sort of play is not considered illegal at most tables but is considered unethical and is heavily frowned upon.
