Biography

Angtoria is a heavy metal band that was originally conceived as a purely orchestral project by Swedish multi-instrumentalist and composer Chris Rehn and English vocalist Sarah Jezebel Deva (aka Sarah Jane Ferridge) and whose extensive résumé already included backup singing with major black metal bands like Cradle of Filth, Mortiis, and Therion. Beginning in late 2001, the pair started composing material and already had a well-received demo in hand by the following year; adding second guitarist (and sibling) Tommy Rehn shortly thereafter, their musical direction clearly shifted toward heavy metal with strong symphonic components. By 2005, the trio felt they were ready to record, so after inking a deal with the Listenable label, they called upon friends and colleagues like bassist Dave Pybus (Cradle of Filth, ex-Anathema) and drummer John Henriksson (My Own Grave) to help flesh out Angtoria's debut album, God Has a Plan for Us All, released in 2006. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, All Music Guide

Angtoria is a symphonic metal band composed of British singer Sarah Jezebel Deva (of Cradle of Filth) and Swedish brothers Chris Rehn (formerly of Abyssos), and Tommy Rehn (formerly of Moahni Moahna).

Singer Sarah Jezebel Deva - who has also worked with such bands as Therion, Mortiis, and Mystic Circle - joined with the brothers in 2001 to create the band. Their debut album, God Has a Plan For Us All, was released on April 2006. The name Angtoria derives its origin from the title of a song by the band Moahni Moahna where Tommy was a member between 1992-1998.

History

The band started with a friendship forged between Sarah and Chris when they were touring in 2001 with the band Cradle of Filth. They went on to produce a film soundtrack-like CD. In 2002 they came together with Tommy to produce an unofficial demo which was heard only by record companies, with the exception of "Six Feet Under’s Not Deep Enough" which was posted on the band's website. This demo included a cover of Kylie Minogue’s "Confide in Me". The band won a competition at gothmetal.net in May 2005, for which their prize was inclusion on a compilation CD. In late of 2005 they were finally signed by the french label Listenable Records.

The album God Has a Plan for Us All features all the tracks from the demo, with the exception of "Child That Walks The Path Of A Man", which only features as a bonus track on the digipack. The album also includes two tracks from the first album made by Chris and Sarah in 2001, along with another six new tracks. The bassist is Dave Pybus (Cradle of Filth and formerly Anathema) and male vocals on "Original Sin" were recorded by Aaron Stainthorpe of My Dying Bride.Sarah Jezebel Deva has publicly announced that she plans on reuniting Angtoria for a new album sometime in 2009 or early 2010.
