Angus Nadfraich

A 5th-century leader of the Eóganacht and king of Cashel, reputedly baptized by St Patrick. According to the well-known but apocryphal story, Patrick accidentally thrust his staff through Angus's foot during the ritual, causing him great pain. Noticing the mishap later, Patrick asked Angus why he did not cry out, and the king answered that he thought it was part of the ceremony.
