Animation Forum West Midlands (sometimes referred to as 'AFWM) is a business network for animation professionals in the West Midlands region of England, UK. As of December 2010, the group has 881 members.
The network was founded in 2006 by Birmingham City University's Screen Media Lab, following initial funding by Digital Central. From 2009 onwards. The project is non-profit and managed on a day-to-day basis by Birmingham City University's New Technology Institute, Birmingham (formerly Screen Media Lab), and has been funded by Screen WM and Birmingham City University since July 2009.[1][2]
The Forum hosts networking events, animation masterclasses and screening nights for animators aimed at building a more cohesive animation sector in the region.[3]
The Forum is guided by a steering group composed of figures from the Midlands animation sector, including CharacterShop, Skillset, Screen WM, The Brothers McLeod, Second Home Productions, Blitz Games Studios, Hereford College of Art, University of Wolverhampton, Synthetic Dimensions and Flip Animation Festival. [4]
