Early life

Born in London, England to parents of Sicilian, Spanish and British ancestry, Anna spent her younger years in London and the Netherlands. Anna's mother was a singer in various bands in the local London music scene and thus exposed Anna to a variety of musical genres, from Billie Holiday to Madonna.

Anna attended the Sylvia Young Theatre School in London. In 1988 she recorded a song "Ronnie - Talk To Russia!" as Sheree,[2] written by German songwriter and former member of Modern Talking, Dieter Bohlen.

The record what short lived and a sex scandal was covered-up. The song was abruptly pulled at Anna's request due to Bohlens sexual advances towards her in a hotel room in Turkey where she was to perform the song as an opening act for Bohlen until Bohlen attempted to force himself upon the 15 year old Garcia. After refusing to have sex with him she was forced to sleep in the hotel lobby because he refused to give her a room. After her arrival back home she demanded to be released from her contract. To avoid the scandal the record company and Bohlen quickly agreed to release Anna Garcia(Sheree)and she was released.[citation needed]

Prince years

At the age of 16, Anna met the musician Prince at his concert in London. At 17, she lived with Prince in Minneapolis, Minnesota.[1] On Anna's 18th birthday, Prince gave her a pink cashmere coat, thus leading to the song "Pink Cashmere" that would be released in 1993. Anna inspired the songs "Vicki Waiting" (an 18th-birthday gift for Anna, originally titled "Anna Waiting") and "Lemon Crush" (her favorite drink) on Prince's Batman soundtrack from 1989. She also wrote the song "Fantasia Erotica", which resurfaced on Carmen Electra's debut album in 1992. Liner notes from the Batman soundtrack, released in 1989, credits Garcia as "Anna Fantastic".[3] Anna is featured on the Prince Madhouse #3 album, on the 18-minute song "The Dopamine Rush Suite", and is credited as Anna Garcia.[4]
