Anna Maria College (AMC) is a coeducational Catholic liberal arts college in Paxton, Massachusetts.

History

Anna Maria College is a private, coeducational Catholic College founded in 1946 by the Sisters of Saint Anne. The school's original campus was in Marlborough, Massachusetts. In 1952, Anna Maria College moved to its present location on a 190 acres (77 ha) campus in Paxton, Massachusetts.

Academics

There are over 1600 students studying in one of the College's 35 undergraduate or 21 graduate and continuing education programs.^[2] Rooted in the traditions of Catholic education,^[3] AMC combines liberal arts and sciences education with career preparation. Majors include Art and Art Therapy, Business, Criminal Justice, Education, Fire Science, Law, Music and Music Therapy, Nursing, Paramedic Science, Psychology, Social Work and Sport Management.

AMC offers several courses online, including an Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, a continuing education Fire Science program and a Master's in Public Administration program.

In 2011, Anna Maria College created a School of Business. The School is accepting majors and programs for the Fall Semester of 2012 ^[4][5]

Campus

The 190-acre (0.77 km²) campus is located in Paxton, Massachusetts. The College also has an "Auxiliary" Campus in Worcester, Massachusetts

Athletics

Anna Maria has 17 Division III athletic teams (the "Amcats") in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) including men's baseball, basketball, cross country, football,golf, lacrosse, soccer and tennis; and women's basketball,cross country, field hockey, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis, and volley ball. It is a member of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC). Football is played in the EFCC, and field hockey in the NECC.
