The 1974–75 Scottish First Division season was won by Rangers by seven points over second place Hibernian.

League Restructure

Following the 1974-75 season the league system was restructured. A new premier division was created. This meant that the first division became the second division of Scottish football. The top 10 teams from this season were promoted to the 1975–76 Scottish Premier Division with the remaining eight clubs joined by the top 6 from division two to take part in the 1975–76 Scottish Premier Division.
