Review

The soundtrack to the TV holiday movie Annabelle's Wish is a little uneven, but it's more ambitious than the average contemporary country soundtrack. Certainly, Cloris Leachman and Jerry Van Dyke's duet on "There's No Place Like Home" sounds out of place, but Alison Krauss' "The World from Way Up Here," Nanci Griffith's "Tiny Dreamer," Dolly Parton's "Silent Night" and "Something Bigger Than Me" and Randy Travis and Beth Nielsen Chapman's "Friends Like Us" are all quite strong. Similarly, the instrumentals are classy, even if their very presence makes the album meander a little bit. As a result, it's not the most memorable record, but it does have moments that make listening worthwhile. ~ Thom Owens, Rovi
