Annagh United (The name 'Annagh' from the Irish: Eanach meaning "Marsh") is a Northern Irish football club playing in IFA Championship 2. The club, founded in 1963, hails from Portadown and plays its home matches at Tandragee Road, their home since 1983. Indeed when the club opened its new pitch a Northern Irish star player of the time, the great George Best turned out in an Annagh United select side. The club home colours have always been and remain a mixture of red and white with black trim. The club run two senior teams, with the reserve team playing in the Mid Ulster league, Division 1. More recently under the guidance of Geoff Davison the club have developed an Annagh United Youth team who play in the Under 14 Mid Ulster Youth League. The club is now entering its second season under last years newly appointed ex Laurelvale manager Keith Wilkinson. The squad currently includes some ex-Irish Premier League players as well as some promising young talents. Annagh United have performed consistently in the Irish League Second Division and finished in the top four in the last two years. In Keith Wilkinsons first season which has just ended, Anngh sat top of the table for a period and only failed to hold onto the position due to some varying results and other teams holding games in hand, but all in all a promising debut season for the new manager. The last five seasons have also brought some notable cup runs, none less than 2006-07 under the reign of Niall Currie, now boss at Loughgall, when they reached the Mid-Ulster Cup final against local senior club Newry City and the Belfast Telegraph Intermediate Cup Semi Final against Coagh United. Ironically, Annagh lost out to the latter team in the Bob Radcliffe Cup semi-final earlier in the season.
