In 1996, Philippine male singer Janno Gibbs released Another Chance. The album is dominated by adventurous, modern-sounding material, markedly different from the simple, easy listening love song so often performed by Philippine solo artists. "Pinakamagandang Babae" (Most Beautiful Girl), for example, features Gibbs singing a funky tune over a syncopated backbeat, accompanied initially only by rhythmic acoustic guitar and light percussion. Not many Philippine solo artists would attempt a song such as this. Gibbs has a strong, versatile voice and can easily glide from the middle register to an impressive falsetto, as heard on a number of songs, including "Your Smile," "Ang Pag-ibig Talaga" (The Love, Really), "Saying Goodbye," and the title song. The sinuous "Kartada Diez" (Ten Cards) contains jazz-like horn fills, and Gibbs strikes a soulful pose that he also assumes on the interesting "Your Smile," which he sings in a high register. The song also contains an exciting saxophone solo played by Tots Tolentino. The title track is a warm, attractive ballad and was written by American Howard White, who also produced the song. "Pinakamagandang Babae" is a funky, dance-inflected tune and is typical of the adventurousness shown on this album. Funky horns are heard over a syncopated backbeat, and the song is spiced by a dissonant keyboard sequence. Gibbs sings the soulful "Saying Goodbye" in an impressive falsetto, easily reaching a number of high notes before fluidly moving down to the middle register. The song is spiced by soulful horn punctuations and contains an impressive, jazz-inflected guitar solo.
