Review

Listen up. Despite taking about four years and three albums to get through, Another Late Night is the best mix album our well-known DJ Dan has done to date. It's a high-energy nut roll of a set, bursting with stupid/great house à la Junior Cartier. And just plop your ears on the speakers as if they were born suction cups: Love & Peace Orchestra's "Holding On," Angel Alanis' "Funk Master," and Sgt. Slick's "White Treble, Black Bass" are all delightful. But just when you think things are about to hit a peak, just when you expect the album to puncture lungs in a bash of house glory, DJ Dan slips in yet another version of "That Zipper Track." Yes. Again. The damnable song is becoming the "Who Let the Dogs Out?" of DJ Dan's career. Let it go. Bury it and move on. Because the rest of this stuff is a ridiculously dumb indulgence. ~ Dean Carlson, Rovi
