Company details
AnsaldoBreda was formed in 2001 by the merger of Ansaldo Trasporti and Breda Costruzioni Ferroviarie,[1] and is part of the Finmeccanica holding.[2] It has production sites on four locations in Italy: Naples, Reggio Calabria, Palermo, and Pistoia. The company employs 2,400 people in total.[1] Since 2008, Salvatore Bianconi is the Chief Executive Officer of AnsaldoBreda.[3]
Products
AnsaldoBreda manufactures railway cars, trams, and trains for commuter rail, high-speed rail, and main lines.[4]
The Sirio is a low-floor tram model and is used in cities throughout Europe such as Athens, Gothenburg, and Milan. The tram models T-68 and T-69 are used in the United Kingdom alone.
Two of AnsaldoBreda's high-speed trains are the ETR 500 model used in Italy and the V250 model planned to be used in the Netherlands and Belgium. The IC4 model is an inter-city train for the Danish main lines. The FS Class E403 of locomotives is used in Italy.
