In this intense family melodrama, a pair of despicable brothers have sold the land their family home is on to an oil-drilling company, which must necessarily tear it down. This leaves their elderly mother homeless, and she spends the majority of the film living in an abandoned bus and hurling imprecations at her two faithless sons. Not content with cheating their mother, one brother steals the entire payment for the land deal from the other. The second one, provoked beyond prudence, takes a knife to the first brother, and is sent to jail for his foolishness in doing so. When he gets out of prison, he's got a few scores to settle. However, he falls in love with a mute girl before he can carry out his plans, and realizes that before he can marry her he needs to get his mother (who hates his guts) to intercede with her family for him. ~ Clarke Fountain, Rovi
