Review

The California foursome's second album betters its predecessor due to fuller production, but A.F.I.'s hurtling hardcore is still undistinguishable from countless similar bands. ~ Andy Hinds, All Music Guide

Answer That and Stay Fashionable is the debut album by American band AFI. It was originally released on August 1, 1995 by Wingnut Records. Answer That and Stay Fashionable was recorded in Hayward, California at the studio of Andy Ernst with production help from Doug Sangalang, Tim Armstrong and Brett Reed. The album was bootlegged by Nitro Records on April 22, 1997. The cover of the album is a parody of the film Reservoir Dogs, of which the album also contains audio excerpts. The album title stems from The Comic Strip Presents: "Bad News Tour", excerpts of which are played at the start of "Don't Make Me Ill" and the end of "Highschool Football Hero." The album also contains an audio sample from European Vacation.

The tracks "Two of a Kind" and "Yürf Rendenmein" were later re-recorded for the Very Proud of Ya album. The title of the song "Yürf Rendenmein" is a play on the phrase "your friend and mine." The lyrics for "Cereal Wars" are credited to Toucan Sam as a joke.

It is stated on the album that all songs, excluding "Open Your Eyes", are copyrighted to Anthems For Insubordinates.
