(al-Jebel ash-Sharqī), Lebanon-Syria Running north-east to south-west along the Lebanese–Syrian border, parallel to the Lebanon Mountains, the name means 'Opposite Lebanon' from the Greek anti. The Arabic name means 'The Eastern Mountain' from jabal and sharqi 'eastern'.
