Antonio Bonfini

(c. 1427–1503), Italian humanist historian who travelled to Hungary to join the Buda court of Matthias Corvinus. His principal work was Rerum Hungaricum decades, a history of the Magyar people for which he was rewarded with a title of nobility by King Ladislas II.

Antonio Bonfini (Latin variant: Antonius Bonfinius) (1434–1503) was an Italian humanist and poet who spent the last years of his career as a court historian in Hungary with King Matthias Corvinus.[1]

Bonfini was commissioned by Matthias Corvinus to produce a work chronicling the History of Hungary. The book was named Rerum Hungaricum Decades (Ten Volumes of Hungarian Matters).[2]
