Antonio Maria Bernacchi

(b Bologna, 23 June 1685; d there, 13 March 1756). Italian alto castrato. Renowned for his technical virtuosity, he sang in operas throughout Italy and also abroad, notably at Munich and for Handel in London (but he did not please English audiences). On retiring in 1736 he founded a singing school in Bologna.
