Anziel Nova

The Anziel Nova was meant to be New Zealand's first domestically produced car. A prototype of the fiber-glass bodied car was unveiled in September 1967, however never reached production.^[1]

It was introduced to New Zealand by Alan Gibbs, a local entrepreneur. The car was based on a Turkish model known as the Anadol A1, which Reliant had developed as a prototype at Anadol's request in late 1966. The styling of the A1 was by Tom Karen of Ogle Design. The Nova utilized Ford Cortina Mk2 running gear.

The New Zealand car industry was heavily regulated at that time and Gibbs was unable to obtain the necessary consents to commence production. The prototype was still in existence in 1995 and owned by Gibbs.
