Aodh Mac Gabhráin

Mac Gabhráin (Mac Shamhradháin), Aodh (Hugh, McGauran) (fl. 1715), poet. Born in Glengoole, Co. Cavan, he was a member of the Ó Neachtain circle of scholars in early 18th-cent. Dublin. ‘Pléaráca na Ruarcach’, a bacchanalian account of drinking and fighting in the O'Rourke household, is his best-known poem in consequence of being translated by Jonathan Swift.
