The journal Applied Physics is a major international scientific journal published by Springer.

The journal was established under the name Applied Physics in 1973. In 1981, the journal split its publication into two sections, issued separately:

  1. Applied Physics A: Materials Science & Processing, ISSN: 0947-8396 (print version) ISSN: 1432-0630 (electronic version); specializes in Materials science and processing; Editor-in-Chief: Michael Stuke.
  2. Applied Physics B: Lasers and Optics ISSN: 0946-2171 (print version) ISSN: 1432-0649 (electronic version) specializes in lasers and optics; Editor-in-Chief: Frank Träger

The journals are indexed in Inspec, Scopus and the Web of Science, They are published as "Open choice" Hybrid open access journals; the author has the option to pay a fee to permit viewing by those whose institution does not have a subscription.
