Maximilian Eugen Ludwig Friedrich Philipp Ignatius Joseph Maria (Vienna, April 13 1895 – Nice, January 19 1952) was an Archduke of Austria.

Family

Maximilian was the second son of Archduke Otto of Austria and Princess Maria Josepha of Saxony.[1] His only sibling was Charles I of Austria, the last Emperor of Austria.

His official title was Seine Kaiserliche und Königliche Hoheit Erzherzog Maximilian Eugen Ludwig Friedrich Philipp Ignatius Joseph, Königlicher Prinz von Ungarn und Böhmen.

He married on November 29 1917 in Laxenburg (near Vienna), Princess Franziska zu Hohenlohe-Waldenburg-Schillingsfürst, daughter of Prince Konrad of Hohenlohe-Waldenburg-Schillingsfürst and Countess Franziska von Schönborn-Buchheim.[1]

They had two children:

  • Archduke Heinrich Karl Maria (Munich, b.1925), married in 1961 to Countess Ludmilla von Galen (b.1939), and they had three sons and one daughter:[1]
  • Archduke Philipp, b.1962,
  • Archduke Ferdinand, b.1965; married Maria Luisa Serra di Carafa di Gerace.
  • Archduke Konrad, b.1971
  • Archduchess Marie-Christine, b.1964

Maximilian died in 1952 at the age of 56.
