Review

With prior albums such as The Coiled One, Spahn Ranch came close to releasing truly enjoyable, even accessible industrial, but missed the mark by clinging to dark imagery and dull sounds. Architecture shows a departure from gloom and an embrace of intelligent electronic rhythm styles like drum'n'bass and electro. This added diversity makes Architecture their strongest record, with highlights like "Monochrome" and the funky "Black Skinned Blue Eyed Boys." The music is less dense and the lyrics are nearly intelligible. Also included are instrumentals like "Incubate" that are exciting combinations of industrial dance and rave. ~ Mike Pfeiffer, Rovi
