Arcis-sur-Aube is a commune in the Aube department in north-central France, located 27 kilometers (17 miles) north of Troyes.

History

The Battle of Arcis-sur-Aube was fought there on 21 March 1814.

George Danton was born the 26th October 1759 in Arcis-aur-Arbe to a respectable though not wealthy family. He was given a good education, and he was launched in the career of an advocate at the Paris bar.
