It might be hard to find a good burger at the North Pole, but not at the Arctic Circle. Arctic Circle Restaurants operates and franchises more than 70 hamburger restaurants in Utah, Idaho, and about a half dozen other western states. The chain is known for using only Black Angus beef in its hamburgers and for its secret Fry Sauce, which is also available for retail sale. Arctic Circle's "Brown Topper" chocolate dipped soft-serve ice cream is also very popular among devotees. Don Edwards opened the first Arctic Circle in 1950; CEO Gary Roberts and other executives acquired the chain in 1992.

Famous for inventing regional condiment fry sauce,[2] the company also claims to be the burger chain to invent and first to sell the kids' meal.

The restaurants sell the standard burgers and shakes, salads and fries, plus less common dishes like halibut and fries, and specialty soft drinks like fresh lime squeezes and fresh (non-alcoholic) lime rickeys.
