Arizona Chemical is always pining for more business. The company, with headquarters in Florida and The Netherlands (go figure), is among the world's largest fractionators (separators) of crude tall oil (from the Swedish talloja, or pine oil). It manufactures such pine tree-based chemicals as fatty acids, rosin esters, and terpenes. Those chemicals are used to manufacture a wide variety of products, including adhesives, household cleaners, hydraulic fluids, inks, paints, personal care products, and plastics. American Securities LLC acquired a 75% stake in Arizona Chemical in 2010, though members of management and former majority owner Rhône Capital still maintain significant equity in the company.
