Size: 18,000 acres. Elevation: 4,000-9,400 feet. Location: Extends south from the mining town of Leadville to the Pueblo Reservoir. Main roads of access include Highways 285/24 and 50/291. Facilities: 102 campsites (no drinking water available), group campground (with restrictions), 108 picnic sites, 14 bathhouses, trails (27 miles total), boat launches, visitor/nature center (wheelchair accesswheelchair access). Activities: Camping (year-round), fishing, ice fishing, boating, river rafting and kayaking, swimming, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, hunting (with restrictions), rock climbing, sightseeing, interpretive programs. Special Features: Park stretches nearly 150 miles along the Arkansas River, with spectacular views and abundant opportunities for outdoor recreation, including white-water boating.

The Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area (AHRA) is one of the United States' most popular locations for whitewater rafting and kayaking on the Arkansas River There is a total of 150 miles of water[1] that extends from Leadville, Colorado to Pueblo, Colorado and contains many different classes of rapids ranging from Class II-V rapids[2][3] Activities within the area include Bicycle Trails, Fishing Guide Service, Hiking/Nature Trails, Horseback Riding Trails, National Forest, Nature Experience, Nature Preserve, Nature Tours, River Raft Trips, Scenic Highway/Byway, Ski/Snowboard Area, State Park, Water Park, Water Recreation.[4]
