Armeleutdichtung

Armeleutdichtung denotes plays (Armeleutstücke), poetry, and novels having settings of poverty, which were popular in the early days of Naturalism (see Naturalismus). A. Holz, J. Schlaf, and G. Hauptmann provide conspicuous examples in drama, Holz in poetry, and M. Kretzer in the novel.
