An act passed on June 30, 1976, (after President Gerald R. Ford had vetoed an earlier and stronger version of the bill) that expanded congressional authority over control of U.S. arms sales and exports. It emphasized public disclosure and review procedures. It was the most significant piece of arms transfer legislation since the Mutual Security Act of 1951.)
