(b Larvik, 20 June 1931). Norwegian composer. He studied at the Oslo Conservatory (1948-52) and in the late 1960s began touring internationally as a performer of live electronic music. His early works are traditional, but since the late 1950s he has used avant-garde methods. He has written orchestral pieces, some with tape or voices (e.g. the ballet Katharsis, 1962; Epitaffio, 1963), but also for small combinations as well as live electronic music.
